Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Sean Ratcliffe was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 18th round of the 2013 amateur draft out of a nearby high school. The scout was Jamie Lehman. He began his pro career that season with the GCL Blue Jays, going 1-1, 5.62 in 8 games. He was with the same team in 2014 and went 1-2, 8.16 in 11 games as a reliever. He walked 17 batters in 14 1/3 innings and struck out only 7. However, the Blue Jays must still have seen something in him, as he was promoted to the Vancouver Canadians of the Northwest League in 2015. he did a lot better there, as in 22 games, he went 2-2, 4.28. In 40 innings, he struck out 30 and walked 16.

Still a very long shot to make it to the big leagues, on May 31, 2016, he was traded to the Atlanta Braves in return for veteran major league reliever Jason Grilli.

Sean pitched for the Canadian Junior National Team at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Taichung, Taiwan. He struck out two and allowed no runs in 1 1/3 IP but walked two and hit two.
