Biographical Information[edit]

Se-jong Yang played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 7 years.

Yang joined the OB Bears when the KBO was founded in 1982, and he hit .269/.329/.389 with 7 homers in his first season. He then hit .276/.314/.400 in 1983, and he had a .301/.362/.442 batting line in 1984. Yang won the first KBO Gold Glove for the designated hitter (the KBO Gold Glove is a postseason All-Star award, not solely a defensive award), and he was 9th in doubles (16, tied with Sung-han Kim and Hae-chang Lee. Yang then missed the next two seasons due to military service, and he only hit .206/.241/.261 in 1987. He bounced back soon in 1988 with a .293/.335/.421 batting line, then he played 85 games with a .257/.319/.348 batting line in 1989. Yang was 13-for-54 in 1990, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yang hit .271/.325/.383 with 403 hits and 27 homers in 7 seasons in the KBO.
