Biographical Information[edit]

The most famous Scott Norwood in the sports world was a football kicker, but baseball's Scott Norwood has been a longtime college coach.

Norwood won a state title in high school and appeared in the NJCAA Division I World Series at Connors State College. He was an assistant coach at the University of Indianapolis from 1995-1998 while earning his master's degree.

Scott became head coach at Mercyhurst College in 1999, going 26-19. He then left coaching to be events coordinator at RCA Dome in Indianapolis in 2000-2001. Back to baseball in 2002, Norwood was head coach of Sterling College, going 105-45 through 2004; each year, the school set a new record for wins and they made the NAIA's top 25 ranking for the first time.

Norwood was head coach at Ouachita Baptist University from 2005-2008, going 158-77. His first year, the team was nationally ranked for the first time. In 2007, they won 50 games and were ranked #1 in the country by Collegiate Baseball at one point before finishing the year at #4.

In 2008, Norwood's OBU club set a school record with 51 wins and made it to the Division II College World Series for the first time ever. They did very well in the 2008 Division II College World Series, going to the championship game before losing to Mount Olive College. Steve Smith became the first OBU player ever picked in the MLB amateur draft.

Norwood became head coach at University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2009. Norwood resigned from UALR in June 2014 [1].

In August of 2017, he was hired as head baseball coach at Ranger College.
