Biographical Information[edit]
Scott Meyer came to the major leagues not long after he turned 21 years old. He had been at Western Michigan University from 1976 to 1978, was signed by the Oakland Athletics in 1978, and by September of that year was already catching in the big leagues. The regular catcher at the time for the Athletics was Jim Essian.
Meyer played in the Eastern League with the Jersey City A's prior to his time in the majors, and was sent back there in 1979, with the Waterbury A's. He played in the minors until 1981, but never returned to the Show and in fact never played at AAA either.
Meyer, who got one hit in the majors, is featured in the book One Hit Wonders.
