Biographical Information[edit]

Scott Sealy was taken by the Texas Rangers in the 10th round of the 1992 Amateur Draft. Primarily a catcher, Sealy also played in the infield sparingly. He spent the first two years of his career in the Texas system at the A level, but struggled. With the 1992 Gastonia Rangers, he hit .240/.293/.337 and had a whopping 14 passed balls in 53 games caught; the following season, he only appeared in two games and had one single in seven plate appearances.

He found himself in independent ball in 1994, spending the season with the Mobile BaySharks of the Texas-Louisiana League. His struggles continued, however, as he only managed averages of .182/?/.261. Still, the Seattle Mariners took a flyer on him and he spent the majority of 1995 with advanced A Riverside Pilots. In 58 games with Riverside, he hit .243/.299/.296; he hit .300/.300/.300 in four games at AAA Tacoma that year. He found himself back in A+ ball in 1996, this time with the Lancaster JetHawks. He improved to .272/.388/.488 and earned a promotion to AA Port City, where he struggled mightily in 15 games (.085/.191/.102).

He began 1997 back with the Roosters and hit .238/.327/.427 in 45 games before being moved up to AAA and and another shot with the Rainiers. In 18 games with Tacoma, he hit .273/.349/.491. 1998 saw Sealy with the Tacoma Rainiers for the entire season, where he put up averages of .270/.356/.410 in 62 games. 1999 would be Sealy's last; still with Tacoma, he fell off the map at .184/.273/.294 in 67 games. He was the backup to Raul Chavez the last two years.

Sealy was a scout for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays then went into coaching. He was assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of South Alabama from 2001-2005. From 2006-2008, he coached Alabama Southern Community College to a 124-43 record. He then returned to South Alabama as pitching coach from 2008-2010.
