Santiago Valerio Bejerano Morales

Biographical Information[edit]
Santiago Bejerano was a long-time outfielder in the Cuban Serie Nacional. He was the cousin of two other Granma stars, Víctor Bejerano and Pablo Bejerano as well as cup-of-coffee player Félix Bejerano. Santiago had his best season in 1989-1990, when the 24-year-old led the Serie Nacional in runs (52), led the eastern division in hits (72, 5 behind Cuban leader José Estrada) and tied for the most triples (4) in the eastern division (one shy of Cuban leaders Enrique Díaz and Dioel Reyes). His cousin Pablo led the league in RBI that year. In 18 seasons, Santiago hit .287/.353/.438 with 630 runs, 710 RBI, 79 steals in 123 tries, 217 doubles, 135 home runs and 374 walks in 5,165 plate appearances.
