Biographical Information[edit]
Sang-tae Kim played for South Korea in the 1998 Baseball World Cup. He saw the least work on their staff but retired four of five batters he faced (walking one, striking out one) for the Silver Medalists. The LG Twins selected him in the first round of the 1999 KBO draft, and he went 9-15 with a 6.17 ERA in 1999 season. He was 2nd in losses (1 behind Young-jae Sung), and his 6.17 ERA was the highest in LG's history for a qualified pitcher. Kim also broke the KBO single-season wild pitches record with 22, and that was still the KBO record as of 2024. He stayed in the minors for the entire 2000 season, and he was 0-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 2001. Kim then suffered from shoulder injuries, and he didn't pitch another game with the big club until the Twins released him in 2004.
