Biographical Information[edit]

Sam Fletcher pitched one game for the Brooklyn Superbas in 1909 and two games for the Cincinnati Reds in 1912. While with the Superbas, he was 28, the same age as player-manager Harry Lumley. With the Reds, he was 31, much older than the team average of 26.5. Afterwards, in 1913, he went 15-9 for the Danbury Hatters.

According to his World War I draft registration, he was working as a bartender in Harrisburg, PA and his wife Leona was residing in Uniontown, PA. He never shows up in any documents after that, making it possible he died in the influenza pandemic that swept across the United States in 1918 and 1919.

He is not the same person as the Sam Fletcher who was an Ivy League soccer coach.
