Ryuhei Sotani has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Sotani represented Japan in the 2022 Haarlem Baseball Week, allowing one hit and three walks in three shutout innings while striking out seven. He tied Tanner Hall and Kosei Shoji for 10th in K. [1] The Orix Buffaloes selected him in the first round of the 2022 NPB draft (the scout was Daisuke Okazaki), and he debuted on April 26, 2023. Sotani collected his first win against the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks on October 9, and he ended up having a 1-2 record with a 3.86 ERA in '23 season. When Yoshinobu Yamamoto left the team in 2024, Sotani joined the rotation. He went 7-11 with a 2.34 ERA in 2024, and he led the Pacific League in losses.[2]
Sotani's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 95.7 mph, a forkball and a cutter.
