Biographical Information[edit]

Ryutaro Doi pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.

Doi represented Japan in the 2001 Asian Championship. The Yokohama BayStars drafted him in the free-acquiring Phase of the 2001 NPB draft. Doi allowed 3 runs in just 3 1/3 innings pitched with the big club in his rookie year. He pitched 38 1/3 innings with a 3.52 ERA in 2004, but slumped to 4.50 ERA with 48 innings pitched in 2005. The BayStars traded him with Ryusuke Minami to the Chiba Lotte Marines for Shigetoshi Yamakita in 2006, but he spent the next two seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues, and announced his retirement after the 2007 season.

Overall, Doi was 1-5 with a 4.22 ERA and pitched 89 2/3 innings in 3 seasons in NPB.
