Biographical Information[edit]

Ryota Isobata has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Isobata was a sprinter in junior high school, and he won Gold in the 100 metres and 200 metres national championship. He won two Best Nine awards as an outfielder in the Tohto University Base Ball League, and the Nippon Ham Fighters selected him in the second round of the 2020 NPB draft.[1] Isobata hit .225/.244/.325 in 27 games in 2021, but he suffered from a waist injury, so he only played 6 games with the big club in 2022. He then collected 17 steals with a .228/.251/.269 batting line in 2023, and he was 5th in steals in the Pacific League (between Koshiro Wada and Hiromi Oka).[2] Isobata struggled at the plate in 2024 as his batting line fell to .161/.210/.196, but he still stole 18 bags and ranked 6th in steals (between Ryosuke Tatsumi and Sosuke Genda). He was named to the Japanese national team for the 2024 Premier 12, presumably as a pinch-running specialist.
