Biographical Information[edit]

Ryosuke Yagi pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.

Yagi was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the second round of the 2008 NPB draft, and he mainly stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first five years; he only pitched 3 games with the big club in 2012.[1] He joined the rotation in 2013, and he was 8-13 with a 4.44 ERA. He led the Central League in losses (tied with Daisuke Miura), and he ranked 2nd in walks (20 behind Kazuki Mishima). He was 5-6 with a 3.91 ERA in 2014, but he stayed in the ni-gun nearly for the entire 2015 season. The Swallows then traded him to the Orix Buffaloes for Kazuki Kondo in the middle of the 2016 season. [2] Yagi only pitched a game for Orix's big club in 2016, and he was placed in the minor league in 2017. The Buffaloes released him after the 2017 season, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yagi was 11-22 with a 4.25 ERA, struck out 224 and pitched 287 2/3 innings in 5 years in NPB. His repertoire featured a fastball that peaks at 94.4 mph, a slider, forkball, and a changeup.
