Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Ryan Norwood played in the Chicago Cubs system in 2004, 2006 and 2007. He was taken by the club in the 9th round of the 2004 amateur draft, a couple of picks after pitcher Troy Patton.

With the Low A Boise Hawks in 2004, he slashed .296/.327/.469 with 9 home runs and 53 RBI in 73 games; he had 59 strikeouts and walked just 10 times. After not playing in 2005, he returned with the Single A Peoria Chiefs in 2006, hitting .307/.354/.451 with 15 home runs, 69 RBI, 106 strikeouts and just 27 walks in 134 games. Between Peoria and the High A Daytona Cubs in 2007, he hit .231/.292/.256 with no home runs and 20 RBI in 57 games.

Overall, Norwood batted .289/.334/.418 with 24 home runs, 142 RBI, 52 walks and 200 strikeouts in 264 games.
