Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Ryan McDermott was taken by the Cleveland Indians in the 2nd round of the 1996 amateur draft, one pick after catcher Eric Munson. He played in their system through 1998. He then went to college, where he played basketball.

Overall, he went 6-17 with a 6.27 ERA in 33 games (29 start). In 126 1/3 innings, he allowed 136 hits, 8 home runs and 101 walks while striking out 81 batters.

He died at 37 years old from a cerebral hemorrhage.
