Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Ryan Jensen was selected by the Chicago Cubs with the 27th overall pick in the 2019 amateur draft, out of Fresno State University. In his junior year in college, he went 12-1, 2.88. Prior to that, he had played a summer with the Anchorage Glacier Pilots a famous team in the Alaska Baseball League.

He began his professional career in 2019 with the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League, pitching 12 innnings in 6 starts with no decisions and an ERA of 2.25. He had to sit out the 2020 season because the minor leagues were shut down by the Coronavirus pandemic, then returned in 2021 with the South Bend Cubs of the High-A Central. he went 2-7, 4.50 in 16 starts before being promoted to the Tennessee Smokies of Double-A South to end the year, making another 4 starts and going 1-0, 3.00. Overall, he pitched 80 innings that year, allowing just 56 hits, with 91 strikeouts and 31 walks. After the season, he also pitched in the Arizona Fall League.
