Biographical Information[edit]
Ryan Anholt played for Team Canada and in the indy leagues.
He hit .361 and slugged .583 in the round-robin phase of the 1994 World Junior Championship, scoring ten runs in Canada's nine games. [1] The New York Yankees took him in the 74th round of the 1994 amateur draft out of high school. He went on to college and the Los Angeles Dodgers chose him in the 57th round of the 1996 amateur draft out of Kwantlen Polytech. He again did not sign. Continuing to Northwestern State University of Louisiana, he was Southland Conference Player of the Year in 1998, setting a school record with 88 hits while batting .417. [2]
In the 1998 Baseball World Cup, he was 2 for 23 with four walks and two runs for Canada, fielding .938 at short. [3] He played in 2000 for the Richmond Roosters and London Werewolves, batting a combined .275/.35/.408 with 42 runs and 15 doubles in 72 games, drawing 39 walks and stealing 14 bases in 20 tries. He fielded .869 at third and played error-free ball in the outfield.
