Biographical Information[edit]
Texas native Roy Easterwood spent fifteen active seasons in professional baseball from 1935 to 1949. Easterwood spent part of the 1944 season with the Chicago Cubs appearing in seventeen games and hitting for a .212 average with one home run in 33 at-bats. This was the catcher's only try in the Major Leagues.
During Easterwood's minor league career, he appeared with sixteen different teams in nine different leagues. His best numbers came in 1947 at the age of 32 with the Nashville Volunteers of the Southern Association when he hit .376 in 234 at-bats in 87 games.
The longtime catcher died at the age of 69 on August 24, 1984 at the Cedar Oaks nursing home in Graham, TX.
