Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Ron Ortegon played in the California Angels organization from 1989 to 1990.

Ortegon was head coach at Forney High School for 8 years. He managed the Batavia Muckdogs in 2002, coached the Reading Phillies in 2003 and the GCL Phillies in 2004. Ortegon was a coach for the Frisco RoughRiders in 2005-2006 and was the minor league hitting coordinator for the Cincinnati Reds organization from 2007 to 2012. He also spent time as interim manager of the GCL Reds in 2007. In 2013, he became assistant hitting coach for Cincinnati. In 2014, he moved to the Atlanta Braves as minor league hitting coordinator. Moving to the Toronto Blue Jays' chain he was hitting coach of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2017.
