Biographical Information

Pitcher Ronald Herrera began his professional career in 2012 after being signed by the Oakland Athletics. He had a 2.47 ERA in 14 starts as a 17-year-old for the DSL Athletics that year. In 2014, he was sent to the San Diego Padres as the player to be named later for outfielder Kyle Blanks. On November 11, 2015, he was traded to the New York Yankees for infielder Jose Pirela. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2016 and won double-digit games for the first time that year as well, finishing with 10 ten victories (all at Double A). On April 26th of that year, he pitched the first part of a no-hitter against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, being relieved by Jonathan Holder.

He was called up by the Yankees to make his debut on June 14, 2017, replacing the injured CC Sabathia on the roster. In his debut against the Los Angeles Angels that day, he pitched two innings in relief but gave up a game-winning two-run homer to Andrelton Simmons in the 7th to be saddled with a 7-5 loss. he only pitched one other game for New York, ending up with an ERA f 6.00 in 3 innings. In the minors, he made a total of 14 starts, including 3 on a rehabilitation assignment with the GCL Yankees East. He was 8-1, 1.91 in those games, including a record of 8-0, 1.13 in 8 starts for Trenton. On November 20th, he was traded to the Texas Rangers in return for lower-level minor leaguer Reiver Sanmartin.
