Biographical Information[edit]
Ron Sorey played in the Montreal Expos minor league system from 1974 to 1976 and the Toronto Blue Jays system from 1977 to 1978.
He was taken by the Expos as the 9th overall pick in the 1974 amateur draft, between pitcher Larry Monroe and shortstop Mike Miley, ahead of shortstop Garry Templeton, catcher Lance Parrish, outfielder Willie Wilson and pitcher Rick Sutcliffe, and in the same round as outfielders Lonnie Smith and Dale Murphy.
Sorey never played past Single-A, hitting 239/.356/.363 with 22 home runs, 135 RBI and 84 stolen bases in 327 games over five seasons. Perhaps his best campaign was 1977, when he hit .262/.418/.471 with 10 home runs, 48 RBI, 57 runs scored and 59 hits in 70 games for the Utica Blue Jays.
