Biographical Information[edit]
Ron Calloway was a fourth outfielder for the Montreal Expos in 2003, appearing briefly again with the Expos in 2004; both teams were managed by Frank Robinson. He was okay in the former season (.238/.282/.374 with 9 homers and 52 RBI in 126 games) but fell off a cliff in the latter (.167/.211/.226 in 46 games and 84 at bats), never to return.
Calloway was born in San Jose and went to high school there, playing baseball and basketball. He was picked in the 8th round of the 1997 amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He played in the rookie league or in Single A from 1997 to 2000, with a peak in 1999 when he spent half a season with High Desert, hitting .316 with 22 stolen bases. He was in Triple A ball in part of 2001, in 2002, part of 2004, as well as in 2005 and 2006. Following his playing days, he became an assistant coach at San Francisco State University in 2011.
Ron is a cousin of NFL wide receiver Chris Calloway.
