Rolando Valdés Patao

Rolando Valdés played in the first 12 seasons of the Cuban Serie Nacional. The infielder led the first Serie Nacional, 1962, with 3 home runs for the Orientales. In 1962-1963, Rolando tied Jorge Trigoura for the most doubles (7) and Miguel Cuevas for the most home runs (3). With the Granjeros in 1964-1965, he led in triples (5), strikeouts (30) and walks (38, tied with Rigoberto Rosique). Valdés fanned 43 times in 1965-1966 to tie Gerardo Olivares for the most. Overall, he hit .197/.342/.285 with 56 steals in 82 tries in a pitcher-dominated era. He fielded .952.
