Biographical Information[edit]
Roemon Fields is an outfielder in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He got a belated start to his professional career, as he went undrafted out of high school and junior college and had to find work in the real world. He was a full-time mail carrier when the Blue Jays and scout Matt Bishoff signed him as an amateur free agent in 2013, impressed by his tremendous speed at a showcase tournament.
He started his career with the Vancouver Canadians of the Northwest League where he had a very sold debut season, hitting .269/.338/.350 in 72 games as the team's starting centerfielder. He scored 64 runs on 79 hits and most impressively stole 48 bases in 57 attempts, setting a new team record. He was invited to play a few games with the Jays during spring training in 2015 and impressed in a 17-3 rout of the Canadian Junior National Team on March 15th, as he scored two runs and hit a two-run homer.
He is the brother of Matt Fields, who encouraged him to stick with baseball even when it seemed that his career was over before it started.
