Biographical Information[edit]

Roderick Bernadina has played in the minors and for the Curaçao national team. He is the brother of major leaguer Roger Bernadina [1] and Ludwig Bernadina [2].

Roderick was signed by Baltimore Orioles scout Ernst Meyer in July 2009. [3] He hit .242/.347/.341 for the 2010 DSL Orioles, playing a team-high 70 games; he had 9 outfield assists. he batted .239/.341/.413 for the '11 GCL Orioles and his 14 doubles tied José Osuna and Jon Schwind for second in the Gulf Coast League, behind Dante Bichette Jr..

He split 2012 between the Aberdeen Ironbirds (.259/.313/.319 in 30 G), Delmarva Shorebirds (.298/.371/.394 in 31 G) and Frederick Keys (his only hit in 13 at-bats was a grand slam]]. [4] In 2013, he ended his time in the O's chain by producing at a .239/.292/.323 clip in 73 games for Delmarva; he again had 9 outfield assists, and he was 12-for-13 in steal attempts. He had batted .247/.320/.353 in 259 games in the minors, with 129 runs and 113 RBI.

Bernadina then returned to his native Curaçao to play. Appearing for Curaçao in the 2021 Caribbean Baseball Cup, he hit a grand slam against the US Virgin Islands. [5] He was 0 for 1 in the 2022 Haarlem Baseball Week; he played for Curaçao while brother Roger played for the Netherlands. [6] It was not the first time two brothers played for different Dutch entries in the same contest - Kenley Jansen had played for the Netherlands while brother Ardley Jansen was on the Netherlands Antilles in the 2009 Baseball World Cup for instance.

In the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he started at first for Curaçao. [7]
