Rochester Jingoes

When the International League became the International Association in 1888, the Rochester, NY entry went from being the Rochester Maroons to the Rochester Jingoes. Under Henry Leonard's guidance, they finished fourth in the IA at 62-45. OF Hank Simon (.358, 61 SB, 91 R) lost the IA batting title by one point to Patsy Donovan while Bob Barr had a 1.58 ERA. 37-year-old Ezra Sutton hit .289 while manning third base.

Leonard was replaced by Pat Powers during the 1889 campaign and the Jingoes finished third at 60-49. Simon fell to .278, though he still stole 56 bases and Barr (29-18, 1.68) led the IA in victories. OF Sandy Griffin (.294, .450 slugging) tripled 17 times and scored 101 runs.

Rochester left the IA for the American Association in 1890, becoming the Rochester Broncos in the process.
