Biographical Information[edit]

Roberto Miniel was a minor league pitcher for five years. He debuted with the 1997 DSL Brewers, going 3-2 with a 3.69 ERA. In 1998, he went 3-2 with two saves and a 4.39 ERA for the Ogden Raptors. He split 1999 between Ogden (5-4, 4.41) and the Beloit Snappers (9.37 ERA in 10 G, 16 BB in 16 1/3 IP). The tall right-hander was back in Ogden in 2000, improving to 9-3, 2.70. He finished second in the Pioneer League behind Ricardo Rodriguez in both wins and ERA. Miniel began 2001 with Beloit and was 4-6 with a 4.08 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 103 2/3 IP. He was then traded with David Weathers to the Chicago Cubs for Ruben Quevedo and Peter Zoccolillo. He finished the year and his career with the Lansing Lugnuts, going 2-1 with a 4.78 ERA in 8 outings.
