Biographical information[edit]

Rob Pugmire pitched in the minor leagues from 1997 to 2001, missing the 1998 season. he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 3rd round of the 1997 amateur draft out of high school and went 1-2, 3.92 in 14 games for the Burlington Indians of the Appalachian League that season. He had his best year in 1999, when he returned after missing a year, going 13-2, 3.28 in 26 starts split between the Kinston Indians of the Carolina League and the Columbus RedStixx of the South Atlantic League. He won the Bob Feller Award that year, given to the best pitcher in the Indians' minor league system.

On November 16, 2000, he was traded by the Indians to the Cincinnati Reds along with P Jim Brower in return for C Eddie Taubensee. However, he only pitched four games for his new team, at the start of the 2001 season, when he went 0-2, 7.79 for the Mudville Nine of the California League. His 2000 season, before the trade, had been limited to 9 games by an injury, and it's likely that the bug bit him again, this time for good, as this concluded his career.

After baseball, he went back to the Pacific Northwest and has lived in Monroe, WA.
