Biographical Information[edit]

Robert Donovan began his pro career in 2009.

Donovan was 8-3 with 100 K in 79 innings as a high school senior. The Minnesota Twins took him in the 35th round of the 2006 amateur draft and he continued on to college. Robby was 1-3 with a 3.93 ERA as a freshman then fell to 3-6, 6.68 with a .317 opponent average as a sophomore. He did beat Louisiana State University. His junior year, he had a 5-3, 5.19 record. The Houston Astros took the tall right-hander in the 23rd round of the 2009 amateur draft.

In his pro debut, Donovan was 2-5 with four saves and a 3.74 ERA for the Tri-City ValleyCats. He started 2010 well with the Lexington Legends (7-6, 3.61 in 18 G) and was promoted to the Lancaster Jethawks. He had a 10.50 ERA, 0-2 record and 2.55 WHIP in his first five starts there. His 6th time out, though, he put on a show, holding the Lake Elsinore Storm hitless and runless (he walked two) through 5 2/3 innings before being relieved by Edwin Walker. It would wind up as a five-pitcher no-hitter.
