Biographical Information[edit]
Rob Zastryzny made his first Opening Day roster with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2023, in his fifth season in the majors and tenth as a pro. He wound up getting the win in relief of Mitch Keller with 1 1/3 shutout innings, David Bednar saving it. The opening had come about due to an injury to Jarlín García. He had just come off a 2023 World Baseball Classic appearance with Team Canada, which had not gone as well, when he allowed three runs in two innings to lose to José Urquidy and Mexico with a quarterfinal spot on the line.
Notable Achievements[edit]
- Won one World Series with the Chicago Cubs in 2016 (he did not play in the World Series)
