Biographical Information[edit]
Ricky Nelson was sort of the third outfielder on the 1983 Seattle Mariners. He is shown as one of the regular outfielders because he had the third-most games in the Mariners outfield that year, along with Dave Henderson and Steve Henderson. However, while Dave was the regular center fielder and Steve the regular left fielder, the most-used right fielder was Al Cowens, although Nelson appeared more overall in various outfield positions.
Although Nelson never played much after that, he was still on the Mariners in 1986 when Steve Henderson was gone, Dave Henderson was traded away in mid-season, and Al Cowens was released in mid-season.
After the 1986 season Nelson was traded to the New York Mets, but did not appear in the majors with them.
He was at Arizona State University at the same time as Alvin Davis, Marty Barrett and Ed Vande Berg.
