Biographical information[edit]
After spending 10 years in the minors with five different organizations, left-hander Rich Rundles made his major league debut with the Cleveland Indians on September 3, 2008. He walked the only batter he faced. In 9 big league games, all with Cleveland, he posted a 1.50 ERA with 6 hits, 4 walks and 7 strikeouts in 6 innings.
He was the son of longtime college coach Gary Rundles and was himself a pitching coach for the University of West Alabama starting in 2017. He had previously served as pitching coach for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League from 2014 to 2016, the last team for which he had played, and also served as the team's interim manager for a spell in 2016.
He died in December 2019 at age 38 of natural causes.
