Rich Linares pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Linares was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 63rd round of the 1991 Amateur Draft, and he had a 0.77 ERA in 7 games for the GCL Dodgers in his first year. He also notched 3 saves in 19 games for the Great Falls Dodgers, and his ERA was 2.45. Linares then notched 13 saves with a 1.81 ERA in 45 games for the Vero Beach Dodgers in 1993, and he was 5-3 with 6 saves and a 3.44 ERA in 41 appearances for the Bakersfield Dodgers in 1994. He stayed in Bakersfield in 1995, and he collected 20 saves with a 2.77 ERA in 55 games.

In 1996, Linares collected a career-high 33 saves in 60 relief outings, and his ERA was 3.36 for the San Bernardino Stampede. He then had a 3.41 ERA with 10 saves for the Stampede in 1997, but he slumped to a 7.23 ERA in 18 games with the AA San Antonio Missions. The Brother Elephants of Taiwan signed him in 1998, and Linares only pitched 3 games with a 13.50 ERA before he was released in August. He also had a 2.96 ERA with 12 saves in 25 games for the Elmira Pioneers, and he pitched 7 games with a 4.26 ERA for the Waterbury Spirit in that season. Linares then collected 9 saves in 48 games for the Reno Blackjacks in 1999, but his ERA was 6.64 with a 6-7 record. He struggled in 2001 as his ERA was 6.82 in 12 games for the St. George Pioneerzz, and he also recorded a 4.23 ERA in 5 games for the Solano Steelheads and a 4.03 ERA in 6 games for the Long Beach Breakers. Linares then started 18 games in Long Beach with a 8-5 record and a 4.81 ERA in 2002, and his professional career ended.
