In 2001 the Zion Pioneerzz of St. George, UT changed their name to the St. George Pioneerzz. After their 21-24 record led the southern division in the Western Baseball League in the first half, the team managed by Mike Littlewood finished last (18-27) in the second half and then fell 3 games to 0 to the Long Beach Breakers in the playoffs. Drawing 76,883 fans (5th in the 6-team league), St. George had one All-Star, 1B Anthony Lewis (who made the All-Star team at DH). Lewis hit just .248, but his 22 homers were second in the league and his 90 RBI led the way. The team did not return the next year.
