Biographical Information[edit]
Although normally a reliever, Rich Hinton did pitch two complete games in his major league career, both in 1978 as a member of the Chicago White Sox. On September 12th, he won against the Minnesota Twins giving up 7 hits, 1 earned run, walking 7 and striking out 2. On September 22nd, he lost against the California Angels despite the complete game; he gave up 6 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 3 and struck out 7. Frank Tanana was the winner for the Angels.
He was drafted five times before signing his first professional contract, after being picked by the White Sox in the secondary phase of the 1969 amateur draft
His son, Robert Hinton, played professionally from 2004 to 2013, never reaching the bigs.
