Biographical Information[edit]
Ricardo Badenas caught for the Spanish national team and for Club Hèrcules L'Hospitalet. In the 1991 European Championship, he helped them win a Bronze Medal. In the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, he hit .412/.565/.471 with 5 walks, 3 runs and 6 RBI in 7 games, splitting catching with Jesús Lisarri. On defense, he had 26 putouts, 3 assists, no errors, two passed balls and allowed four steals in five tries. He led the team in walks and was 3rd in RBI (behind Félix Cano and Enrique Cortés). Among those who played regularly, he led the team in OBP (.093 ahead of Cortés) and OPS (107 ahead of Cano) and was second in average (.012 behind Cortés) and slugging (.046 shy of Cano). Despite outhitting Lisarri, he was not back with Spain for the 1992 Olympics, while Lisarri was.
