Biographical Information[edit]
Reynier Gonzalez pitched four minor league seasons (through 2009).
Gonzalez signed with the St. Louis Cardinals at age 16. He had a 1-7, 4.55 record for the 2006 VSL Cardinals with 34 walks in 57 1/3 innings. He tied for second in the Venezuelan Summer League in losses, one behind teammate Omar Diaz. Reynier split 2007 between the GCL Cardinals (2-0, 1.01 in 10 G) and Johnson City Cardinals (1-1, 5.06 in 3 G). He was 2-3 with a save and a 4.36 ERA for Johnson City in '08, with 31 walks in 53 2/3 innings. He led the Appalachian League in free passes. He fell to 2-5, 6.08 with the same club in 2009. He then pitched for the Venezuelan national team in the 2010 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament.
