In 1999 the Reno Chukars were replaced in the Western Baseball League by the Reno BlackJacks. The club went just 41-49, part of a 3-way tie for third but the Reno, NV team made the playoffs and gave the .700 Chico Heat a challenge by taking two games in the best-of-5 series. Reno had three All-Stars: 1B Justin Drizos, 2B Sergio Guerrero and pitcher Randy Phillips. Guerrero hit .354 (fourth in the league) and tied for the league lead with 130 hits. Drizos was 5th in runs (78), second in homers (24), RBI (85) and walks (73) and led in slugging (.676). Dee Dowler was second in hitting (.365, one behind the league leader). The club lasted just the one year before disappearing.
