Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Dee Dowler played in the Chicago Cubs system from 1993 to 1997 and in independent ball in 1998 and 1999. He was taken by Chicago in the 52nd round of the 1993 amateur draft.

The speedster stole 21, 15, 27, 29 and 14 bases from 1993 to 1997, respectively. He reached Triple-A for the first and only time in 1997, hitting .230/.310/.310 with 2 home runs, 12 RBI and 6 stolen bases in 42 games for the Iowa Cubs.

He had his best years with the independent Reno Chukars/Reno BlackJacks of the Western Baseball League in 1997 and 1998. In 1997, he hit .389/.436/.553 with 37 stolen bases, 22 doubles and 114 hits in 63 games. He was third in the league in steals and second in batting average. In 1998, he hit .365/.418/.456 with 17 stolen bases and 88 hits in 53 games. He finished second in batting average.

At all levels, he hit .294/.362/.402 with 160 steals, 436 runs and 713 hits in 657 games over 7 seasons.
