Rene Rojas

Biographical Information[edit]

Rene Rojas was a hitting coach for the DSL Cardinals in 2009-2010. The status of Rojas in 2011 is unclear. He was probably the DSL hitting coach again, but may also have worked as a Cardinals scout since he is named as one of two scouts that signed free agent Eliezer Alvarez that year. There is no record of his baseball activities from 2012-2014.

The Houston Astros hired Rojas in 2015 as a hitting coach for the DSL Astros Orange and he stayed in this role through 2017. Rojas was the hitting coach for the GCL Astros in 2018-2019. He was scheduled to return to this team in 2020 before COVID-19 shut down the minor league season. Rojas moved up to full-season ball in 2021-2022 as hitting coach for the Asheville Tourists. Rene’s Tourists led offense finished first in the High-A East League with a .262 team batting average in 2021. He received another promotion in 2023 and served as the Astros' minor league assistant hitting coordinator, a role he repeated in 2024.

During the 2022/2023 winter season Rojas worked as the first baseball coach for the Cangrejeros de Santurce in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League. He moved to the Dominican League in 2024/2025 as hitting coach for the Leones del Escogido.
