Regions Field in Birmingham, AL, is the home of the Birmingham Barons, the Chicago White Sox' Double-A Southern League farm team. Outside, a 286-foot-long BIRMINGHAM sign in 26-foot-tall all-capital letters is visible from Interstate 65 and Willie Mays, from nearby Westfield, makes a leaping catch in bronze.

In 2013, the brand-new ballpark lured the Barons back from 25 years in suburban Hoover, AL, and the ChiSox extended their affiliation for the then-maximum four years. The Barons also won that year's Southern League title, nearly doubled attendance, and led the league the rest of the Affiliated Era. No games were played in 2020 because of the pandemic, and the ballpark lost its title in 2021 when the relocated Rocket City Trash Pandas led the SL's successor circuit, Double-A South, in attendance.

In 2015, the franchise's best attendance for a non-Michael Jordan season included the millionth fan. It reached 2 million in 2017, amid broad agreement the ballpark was turning around the Magic City's downtown.
