Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher George "Red" Treadwell began his pro career with the Rock Island Islanders in 1927. Treadwell may have been on the roster of the Boston Braves at the end of the 1930 season [1]. He managed in the minors from 1936 to 1948, mostly in the Northern League.

During World War II, Treadwell served in the Seabees.

On July 24, 1948, Treadwell was driving the Duluth Dukes' team bus from Eau Claire, WI to St. Cloud, MN near St. Paul, MN when the bus hit a truck. Treadwell, four players, and the driver of the truck were killed.
