Biographical Information[edit]
Ray Schmandt, a St. Louis, MO boy, attended Saint Louis University at the same time as Eddie Mulligan and broke into the majors the same year.
He was the Opening Day #2 batter for the Brooklyn Robins in 1922. It was his last year in the majors; Jack Fournier replaced him at first base the next year (Schmandt was traded for Fournier, and at first Fournier didn't want to report to Brooklyn).
