Biographical Information[edit]
Ray Fitzgerald was a pinch-hitter on April 18, 1931 for the Cincinnati Reds. He was 26 years old, and Ray's teammates that day included Edd Roush and Leo Durocher. The opposing team was the Pittsburgh Pirates, featuring Paul Waner, Lloyd Waner and Pie Traynor.
His minor league career ran at least from 1930 to 1937. He played OF for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the International League in 1934. With the 1935 Buffalo Bisons, his .328 was the highest batting average on the team, and his 17 home runs were second-best - the average team age was 29.9, with most of the players being former big leaguers.
