Biographical Information[edit]

Ray Cosey played nine times for the 1980 Oakland Athletics and Billy Martin. His lone big league hit (1-for-9, .111) was of the infield variety, pinch-hitting for Rob Picciolo while facing rookie sensation Doug Corbett of the Minnesota Twins.

Ray was born in San Rafael, CA, twenty miles from Oakland. At 17, he was in the A's system with the Lewiston Broncs, for whom he would play two seasons. Thereafter, he moved steadily up the organization. When he got to AAA in 1979, he hit .314 for the Ogden A's and was on the big club in April and May 1980. For most of 1980, he was back in Ogden, hitting .296. In 1981 he went off to Japan, and then from 1982-1990 he played in Mexico.
