Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Rawley Bishop played in the Detroit Tigers system from 2009 to 2012. He briefly reached Triple-A in 2012, but never ascended to the majors.

He was originally taken by the Tigers in the 19th round of the 2009 amateur draft, one pick ahead of catcher Dustin Garneau. He was signed by scout Harold Zonder. He hit .282/.378/.439 with 5 home runs and 43 RBI in 71 games for the Oneonta Tigers his first year, then .276/.360/.434 with 15 home runs, 87 RBI, 81 runs and 13 steals between two clubs in 2010. He hit 10 homers and stole 16 bases for the Erie SeaWolves in 2011, before wrapping up his career with 8 home runs and 15 steals in 2012. In his first and only taste of Triple-A that year, he hit .143/.240/.191 in 6 games for the Toledo Mud Hens.

Overall, Bishop hit .265/.349/.403 with 38 home runs, 249 RBI and 45 stolen bases in 451 games over four seasons. He earned numerous accolades in his career: New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star (2009), Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star (2010), MiLB.com Organization All-Star (2010) and Eastern League Player of the Week (2010).
