Player of the Week Award
(Redirected from Player of the Week)
The Major League Baseball Player of the Week Award was launched by Major League Baseball at the start of the 1974 season. One player is honored in each league every week of the regular season. The award can be shared among two or more players.
While the award is publicized when given out, it is not tracked much (i.e. who has won it the most times, or the most times in a season, how it correlates with seasonal awards, etc) and tends to be treated as a curiosity.
Minor league circuits also hand out Player of the Week honors.
