Biographical Information[edit]

Randy Florentino has played in the minors and for the Dominican national team.

He was signed by Texas Rangers scout Danilo Troncoso in July 2017. [1] He made his pro debut the next summer, hitting .309/.454/.550 with 18 doubles, 48 runs and 53 walks in 60 games. He tied for third in the Dominican Summer League in walks, tied for fifth in doubles, was 6th in OBP (between Joerlin De Los Santos and Jember Gutierrez), ranked 5th in slugging (between Yaniery Guzman and Victor Heredia) and trailed only Malcom Nuñez and Heriberto Hernandez in OPS. Baseball America rated him as the Rangers' #19 prospect entering 2019. He slipped to .243/.353/.329 for the 2019 AZL Rangers and was 1-for-4 for the Spokane Indians. The 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The catcher's numbers fell even further in 2021 as he eked out a .148/.249/.242 line for the Down East Wood Ducks. He rebounded a bit, to .242/.332/.353, for the Hickory Crawdads. The Baltimore Orioles took him in the AAA portion of the 2022 Rule V Draft. [3]

In 2023, he was with the Delmarva Shorebirds (.289/.348/.454 in 33 G), Aberdeen Ironbirds (6 for 21, 2 2B, BB) and Bowie Baysox (.111/.207/.125 in 25 G). He also split '24 between Aberdeen (.263/.294/.365 in 45 G) and Bowie (1 for 4, 2B). With the Dominicans in the 2024 Premier 12, he backed up Frank Rodriguez. In his first game, against Taiwan, he was 0-for-2 against Tzu-Peng Huang then Micker Adolfo pinch-hit. He finished the tourney 0-for-4, fielding .882 with one steal allowed, one passed ball and one catcher's interference. [4]
