Randy Asadoor was born in Fresno, CA, and was a star at California State University, Fresno. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 11th round (286th overall) of the 1980 amateur draft. He decided not to sign, and waited until 1983, when he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 3rd round (57th overall), to sign. From 1983-1986, Asadoor was in the minors. He started high in Double A at Tulsa of the Texas League, even though he was only 20 years old, hitting .274 and slugging .503 in 46 games. He returned to Tulsa the next year, hitting .249 with 16 home runs in 124 games. In 1985, he moved up to Triple A at Las Vegas in the Pacific Coast League, where he hit .254 with 17 home runs in 126 games. In 1986, he repeated Las Vegas, hitting .280 with 13 home runs and 10 triples in 125 games.

On September 14, 1986, at the age of 23, Asadoor made his Major League debut with the San Diego Padres, to whom he had been traded to on April 6, 1985 for Mitch Williams. He did very well in his only big league season, hitting .364 in 55 at-bats. Even with this outstanding performance, this was the only glimpse of the major leagues that he would ever get. Perhaps it was because of defense: in 15 games at third base, he made 5 errors. With the Pads, he wore number 12.

He currently lives in Clovis, California and is apparently affiliated with the Keystone Fruit Brokerage of Fresno. He was inducted into the California State University, Fresno Hall of Fame in 2000, and since then has sat on the committee that does the inductions.
