Biographical Information[edit]
Ralph McLaurin was the first player born in Florida to break into the major leagues. He was a left fielder, and the regular left fielder on the St. Louis Cardinals in 1908 was Joe Delahanty, who was 32 years old. He was the coach at The Citadel in 1912. Much of his minor league career was spent in the Texas League.
The book Florida's First Big League Baseball Players mentions McLaurin, but mostly focuses on other Floridians.
