Rafael Cruz has pitched in the minors.

Cruz debuted in 2003 with the DSL Angels. In 2004, he was with the Provo Angels (0 R in 4 IP) and AZL Angels (1-4, 3.77). He split 2005 between the Orem Owlz (3-2, Sv, 3.76) and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (3.75). In 2006, the right-hander bounced around with the Angels chain with the Cedar Rapids Kernels (1.69 in 12 G), Rancho Cucamonga (2-1, 7.25 in 24 G) and the Salt Lake Bees (7 R in 5 1/3 IP).

Returning to his native Mexico in 2007, Rafael was 3-2 with a 3.88 ERA for the Veracruz Eagle. He had a 11-5, 4.18 record in 2008, tying for fourth in the Mexican League in wins. Cruz improved to 12-7, 2.81 in 2009. He was 5th in the LMB in ERA and tied Julio Mateo for 4th in wins. Cruz only pitched five games in 2010, going 4-0 with a 1.69 ERA.
